Dept of Energy bureaucrats announced today that the U.S. can "modernize" its power grid with solar panels to supply 40% of demand by 2035, provided that we spend hundreds of billions to do such a thing. Think about it. China will burn coal and mine toxic minerals to make solar panels that will fail prematurely like all Chinese products do, which means we'll have to redo it twice or three times to discover that we get zero power at night and almost zero on a dull winter day or a rainy spell in spring and autumn. Note that DOE cleverly neglected to say how much demand there would be in 2035 with an enormous fleet of EVs charging day and night, assuming that we build a mountain of battery storage in every city and town and rural district, unless everybody is going to walk to school and study at home by candlelight. How many Amazon server farms and warehouses will this crap Chinese solar support? Does it include US Navy ships at sea (nope, 100% nuclear) or mechanized farming (100% diesel)?
Solar panels made in USA? Hahahahahahaha. In your dreams.
