This was my weblog masthead in 1997 on a UK server.
Not much has changed. I still write about alphamutt heroes, ordinary men
who have more heart than brains, but are dedicated to using their mental powers
as fully as possible, because 2+2=4 and so on. Handguns buck when they fire.
You have to hold on and get it sighted again as quickly as possible to fire
again, because one shot is rarely enough to kill a man, if that has to happen.
The only way to succeed is adequate practice on a tactical range. Draw, take
cover, aim, shoot. I've been in situations that required more training than I
had.
That's par for the course if you're an alphamutt with more heart than
brains. We attempt things that overreach our competence, pending experience,
the organic path of learning by doing, badly or not. With courage under fire
ordinary men often triumph.
Every soldier is equally equipped. Heroes charge the enemy.
